Willamette Valley

Well, we just finished up our second day in Willamette Valley Wine Country. We landed yesterday at 1:20 and at 3:20 we were wine tasting. After checking in at our B&B, we returned to Yamhill for some of the best pizza ever at “Zippy’s.”

The B&B sets on top of a hill surrounded by forest and looks down into the valley. The owner has two alpacas (similar to lamas); which she shaves yearly, dies the wool, and turns it into yarn then weaves into clothes. You have a lot of time on your hands in rural Oregon.

Here's a link to our B&B: (Click Here). We're in the "Mountain Hideaway." In fact, I'm sitting on that couch typing this down and Barb is fast asleep in that big bed.

This morning we woke up to a pancake breakfast and then spent the day driving around rural Oregon tasting wine and giving the local economy a boost. The wine was good, but the scenery was even better. The weather is cool and the leaves are changing. We are experiencing an actual Fall Season. I had come to think that autumn was something I had imagined as a child.

The little towns are wonderful. The buildings are old, the people are friendly, and the food is very good and cheap. Two nights in a row we stuffed ourselves for under $20—and that included smoked salmon.

Tomorrow we’ll head to our condo near Mt. Hood, but we’ll take all day to get there. We’ve got some small towns to explore and some waterfalls to hike to. We’ll update as we find internet access.
